2015-2016 Annual Campaign

Welcome to the sixth year of the AAPLE Academy, a remarkable program in which our children are so fortunate to participate! I can say with certainty that this program has had a deep impact on our students’ high school experience, and personally, both my boys are receiving a challenging academic experience coupled with wonderful growth in the areas of leadership and service.  Kelly and I are pleased to see our sons growing into capable young adults who understand the importance of education and relationships, and are striving to be leaders.

AAPLE continues to produce a 100% college acceptance rate to four-year colleges and continues to distinguish itself as a premier program drawing the best and brightest to San Marcos High.  As you know, the Santa Barbara School District simply does not have the resources to finance the aspects of the Academy that make it so unique. I invite you to join me in giving to our Academy, which provides so much to our children and families.

Thanks to the support of our families and local foundations and corporations we have been able to reach our funding goals in each of our five years. This year our goal is to raise $132,000 from our 132 students in order to sustain our Academy and provide the extra-curricular events and activities which have been an integral part of the Academy’s success.  In addition to support from our families, the Board will continue to expand our fundraising efforts to foundations and corporations and hope to add to the list of supporters which already include Mosher, Williams Corbett, Alice Tweed Tuohy, and Outhwaite Foundations, as well as the Deckers Corporation. Since many of these organizations require a high participation rate from families before donating, every gift matters, large or small. We hope to rely on some families to give a bit more to offset those families that do not have the same means. Whatever amount you are able to give, know that all gifts are used for program costs, which benefit every AAPLE student. Please see the attached chart of the Benefits of your Donations. These costs include:

  • Program Enrichment
  • Team Building Overnights and Social Events
  • Leadership Activities
  • Community Service Activities
  • Technology and Facilities
  • Core Elements such as Counseling, Administrative Support, Technology, etc.

Any contribution you make is completely voluntary and not a prerequisite for participating in the Academy.  All contributions are tax deductible, and in many cases employers will double your donation with a company match, so please inquire at your workplace. Should you have any questions, or if you would like additional information, please feel free to contact any of the Board members.

Thank you so much for your continued support of AAPLE!  Our collective contributions will make this program the learning experience of a lifetime for our children.

Sincerely,
